Seat of Contemplation

Time keeps passing and I had to make some decisions about my upcoming shows.  I'll open my studio on April 30 for a showing and then the next day I'll begin the Free Range at City Center for the month of May.  So the post cards were designed today titling the show Free Range with this painting on the front. It is almost finished, oil on canvas, 40 x 50 with a deep framing.  I still need to paint the edges and when I do that some other painting might happen, but this painting seems quite committed to being.  I have sat and contemplated it quite a bit.....desert colors, but done mostly before I went west.

Wish you all could come visit me in my studio or check out the exhibit in City Center.

This painting (20 x 20) has just begun, very watery oil with turpentine.  Sometimes the beginning stages seemed so  like a watercolor, I can become confused about how to continue.  Well, tomorrow I will be looking at this again.  Bruce has a healing in the house in the morning and I'll be off early to the studio.  Hurrah!
