Forms and Faults

New painting!  50 x 40, begun with fastening hand painted silk chiffon scarf, 34x34, onto the canvas with acrylic medium, then applying Dorlan's wax to blend it into surface.  The painting grew from the painted scarf forms to extend to the edge of canvas with the mountains above reaching into squares of applied silks finding the air above.  As the earth shifts, the tectonics shift, and faults change the form.  This painting is a landscape with the movement of the earth in evidence....a multi-layered creation.  It is nature, history, and a sign of the times.  It is a culmination of the work I have been doing in my residency at Fort Can and is finished in time for the showing on Friday.  Hurrah!

I hope some of you supporters can come see my work in the studio show or in the large exhibit, Free Range, in City Center, Montpelier for the month of May.  If you wish to purchase any of the paintings posted in this blog,  please write to me here or colormuse@gmail.com or check out my website www.maggieneale.com

Good morning Mary Ann, Annie, and Neva. Thank you for your comments of appreciation and support. Maybe the title ought to be Culmination, huh, Neva? Wish you all lived closer.
