Big painting has its beginning layer

Big painting has its beginning layer

Just before I left for a week dealing with replacement of Mama to a new end of age home in Tucson for Rediscovery, I took this photo of the large painting with its initial strokes and blends--the beginning of the dream. It too is a rediscovery, as large paintings can find larger spaces to explore. The very strokes are fuller body strokes and my new easel allows a firm upright hold of this canvas gifted to me by Cully on her departure from Montpelier to the west coast. So many of us are shifting our homes, our awarenesses. The car seat rocks and the sky opens up. What am I trying to say when I make my strokes, spill my colors? Or even when I let these words make marks upon this page....what communication do I have to work with? When I think of my Mama's homemates and their varying communication gaps....one woman had a whole stream of words, but meaning alluded me...a free style poem, perhaps. I could see that she had a freedom and pleasure with her words. Well, enough of my ramblings as I have new silks pinned to the tabletop and a teeth cleaning to attend while the silks begin their drying. So much in my life still...not simple, but still creative. Ah....

What a terrific looking beginning, Maggie. It seems as though the large canvas has allowed a grand freedom of movement.

It is fun for me to watch you explode in studio and on the Net. Thanks for sharing...

Wow, Maggie, I love the big gestural feel of this beginning layer of the big canvas. A BOLD beginning.

Thank Altoon, Bruce, and San, Exciting beginning, but I haven't been able to enter the painting yet again. What? Not feeling bold or am I afraid of wrecking what I have begun?
