Ice on Fire Celebration---deep winter

Ah!  New format and I am bewildered.  Bruce and I went over to the North Branch Nature Center to the winter festival.  Not as much snow as in past years, and the fires seemed small.  The wonderful woman who started this event quite a few years ago has passed in this last year and the event missed her enthusiastic presence.  But the shelters were amazing mounds of snow carved out so that many folks could sit on benches and listen to stories, many people were in costume, some performing, some to dress up, cider and chili warmed the children, and the Taiko drummers beat rhythms for my heart.  We didn't stay til the big fire was lit.  Bruce's feet were cold and I had to dismantle the sale at the gallery.  But so glad we could witness the play in the deep winter when folks came out to celebrate.
