Governor salutes Artisans Hand as Vermont State Craft Center

It was quite a gathering of dignitaries at our gallery today as we were given the plaque as designation as a Vermont State Craft Center. We are the 3rd gallery for this distinction and pleased to be recognized. Beside Governor Douglas is Mary Hooper, Mayor of Montpelier, and Bill Frazer, City Manager. My paintings on silk hang behind them. Lochlin Smith did the speaking for us while I did the photos and laid out the cakes with napkins. It was festive and successful. Customers were buying all throughout the speeches so buisness went on as usual.

It was also an opportunity to get a photo of the 6 of us who run this gallery, which is owned by no one. When we need to tighten the ship we put in more hours and cut our percentage take of our work sold....yes, like in this economy, but we are grateful for the honor. We work hard at keeping our ship afloat and look forward to our holiday sales. Artisans Hand

This looks like it certainly was a wonderful event. Looks like a great place to hang out and show some good art in the process.

Warmest regards
Egmont

Thanks, Egmont, you are so faithful and encouraging. It is a great gallery. Our numbers are down with the economy; since I do the promotion, ads, brochures, press releases, my job has been cut back...pushing more work into fewer hours like many others. This might just be the boost we need.
